Overview
This policy applies to services operated under the Edshala brand. We publish updates on this page and will note material changes here; where required, we will also notify you in the product or by email.
For account help or privacy requests, see Support. Our Terms & Conditions govern use of the service.
Who and what this covers
This policy covers personal information processed when you use Edshala websites, mobile applications, and related services tied to your Edshala account. It supplements our Terms & Conditions and is intended to meet transparency expectations for users who connect a Google account for sign-in or other features.
Google account data and Sign in with Google
If you choose Sign in with Google, Google provides Edshala with information from your Google account as part of the sign-in flow (for example, through a secure ID token). Depending on your Google account settings and the sign-in method, this may include:
- Your Google account subject identifier (a stable ID Google associates with your account).
- Your email address and whether Google considers the email verified.
- Your name and profile picture, if made available to Edshala through the sign-in process.
- Technical elements needed to validate the sign-in (for example, token metadata used only for authentication).
How Edshala uses Google user data. We use this information solely to provide and improve Edshala’s functionality, including to create or log you into your Edshala account, display your profile details in the product, keep your account secure, and communicate with you about the service where appropriate. We do not use Google user data for serving third-party advertising, for selling user data, or for purposes unrelated to Edshala’s application features.
Sharing and transfer of Google user data. We do not sell Google user data. We do not transfer Google user data to third parties for their own independent use or for advertising. We may share data with service providers (such as hosting, authentication, security, or analytics vendors) only where necessary to operate Edshala, subject to confidentiality and processing terms, and only for the purpose of providing or improving Edshala’s service—not for unrelated third-party products. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of Edshala and our users.
Google’s own privacy policy describes how Google processes data when you use your Google account; this policy describes how Edshala handles information once you use our service.
Other information we collect
In addition to Google sign-in data, we may collect:
- Account and profile details you provide directly (for example, name, contact details, role, preferences, and onboarding information).
- Content you upload or share (for example, posts, media, messages, and community activity).
- Usage and technical data needed to run the platform (for example, device or app version, logs, and security signals).
How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Operate Edshala features you choose to use (learning, community, messaging, notifications, and related tools).
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, investigate incidents, and improve reliability.
- Send service-related messages and respond to support requests.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms & Conditions.
Sharing beyond Google sign-in
We do not sell personal information. We may share data with processors who help us deliver Edshala (for example, cloud infrastructure), under contracts that limit how they use data. We may disclose information when legally required or to protect users and the service.
Retention and deletion
We retain Google-related and other account information for as long as your Edshala account is active and as needed to provide the service, meet legal and security requirements, and resolve disputes. When you ask to delete your account or when retention is no longer necessary, we delete or anonymize personal data in line with applicable law, except where we must retain limited records (for example, security or legal holds).
To request deletion or export of your data, contact us via Support. We may verify your identity before fulfilling requests.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can also disconnect Google sign-in from within your Google account settings; doing so may limit certain Edshala features until you use another sign-in method.
Security and sensitive data
We use industry-standard safeguards appropriate to the data we handle, including encryption in transit (such as HTTPS), access controls, authentication protections for accounts, monitoring for abuse, and vendor diligence for subprocessors. Access to account and authentication data—including tokens and Google-derived profile fields—is limited to personnel and systems that need it to operate the service.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change how Edshala accesses, uses, stores, or shares Google user data or other personal information, we will update this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice in the app or by email so you can review the changes before continuing to use new practices.
